What is a third party administrator (TPA)?

A TPA is the company that processes the claims for NSBSD. It is NOT an insurance company. NSBSD is self-insured meaning that all of the claims are paid directly out of the district budget. The TPA is merely the processor.

When will I receive my new cards?

Approximately 10-14 days following enrollment. They will be sent to your site in inter office mail.

What is a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) Network?

A PPO network is a group of providers that is linked together to provide greater discounts to those who chose to contract with them. This is a way for your plan to achieve savings that are not possible otherwise; we must use these networks to obtain discounts on services in order to continue to provide coverage to you and your dependents. First Choice Health and PHCS are our networks.

Go to: www.myvrx.com or call 1.877.879.9722. Please dial 0 when the prompts begin. Customer Service center hours are 5AM. to 5PM AKST and 8 am to noon on Sat.

Mail Order RX

For a 90 day supply, Bernie's in Anchorage will mail to the villages. Call 907.562.2138 or mail your prescriptions with a copy of your card to 4100 Lake Otis PKWY 200 Anchorage AK 99508.

For a 180 day supply you may use the VRX pharmacy in City Creek, Utah. Call 1.866.793.5337 or ask your physician to fax an RX directly to 801.326.2004. You may also go online through www.myvrx.com, or call VRX customer service for assistance 1.877.879.9722. Please dial 0 for direct assistance when the prompts begin. Please note the pharmacy closes at 5PM AKST. However they are, open Sat 8AM to Noon AKST.

Vision Services

There is no PPO network for vision services. Just present your card at the time of services.

Dental Network Available

Aetna Dental Administrators is an optional network available to you. By using this network of dentists, you will receive discounted rates. Please check with Aetna Dental at 800.513.7177 (NovaNet/option#7) to see if your dental provider is part of the Aetna Dental Network. You can also check online @ www.aetna.com/docfind/custom/aetnadentalaccess/.
