The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as "the Nation's Report Card," is the only nationally representative and continuing assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas. Its two primary goals are to measure student achievement and report changes in performance over time.
NAEP is administered every two years. State-level mathematics and reading assessments are given to students in grades 4 and 8. In addition, national civics and US history assessments are administered to grade 8. Students will take the examination on tablets provided by NAEP representatives.
NAEP is administered to students during regular school hours. Each student is assessed in one subject area. Students spend between 90 and 120 minutes ****taking the assessment, including time to complete a survey questionnaire.
The Alaska profile is available on the NAEP website. This profile presents vital data about Alaska's student and school population, NAEP testing history, and results. The profile also contains links to the most recent state report cards for all available subjects.
